NTUA participated at the Spring Meeting of the European Materials Research Society (E-MRS), in Strasbourg, France
The 2025 Spring Meeting of the European Materials Research Society (E-MRS), in Strasbourg, France, was organised from 26 to 30 May 2025. The conference consisted of 23 parallel symposia.
MatEl participated in Symposium O, addressing the field of laser materials processing and laser-matter interaction, including laser- and plasma-based materials synthesis, surface structuring and functionalization, 3D processing, additive manufacturing, process analytics and materials diagnostics with a special emphasis on the micro- and nanoscale.
On 28 May 2025, during Session O09, Dr. Marina Makrygianni, senior scientist at the National Technical University of Athens has presented “LIFT of solder materials and laser soldering of optoelectronic components for photonic applications”, achieved within the Project MatEl as a collaboration work between the NTUA, PHIX and LioniX.
She highlighted the use of laser-based technologies, specifically LIFT and laser soldering, which efficiently printed solder materials and soldered millimetre-sized commercial LEDs onto silicon chips. The ultimate goal of this work is to achieve digital bonding of micro-optoelectronic components on photonic chips.
