PIEM at COST action OPERA “European Workshop on Innovative and Advanced Epitaxy”

From 11 to 14 June 2024 , Sarunas Bagdzevicius from PIEMACS Sarl, participated in the COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) action OPERA “European Workshop on Innovative and Advanced Epitaxy – Vilnius, Lithuania 2024”. This workshop focused on the fundamental and theoretical aspects of epitaxy, along with practical simulations of device properties. It highlighted sustainable material science approaches and novel characterisation techniques for functional materials, and the role of substrates and pre-growth processes in developing hybrid and functional materials.

PiezoMEMS participated in the poster session, where Sarunas Bagdzevicius presented the results on “Piezoelectric thin films (PZT) deposited with pulsed laser deposition (PLD) on 4- to 8-inch wafers” achieved within MatEl. Our partner had the chance to show how such an approach improves cost, performance, and uniformity for IoT applications such as sensors and actuators. Within the project, it was achieved a growth on patterned electrodes and enhanced piezoelectricity through self-poling.
